Some of our Ceremonial Options Naming: The pagan ceremony of Naming is not just for babies but can be embraced at any age; it is a simple declaration of positive intent made by a child of the Earth unto our Earth Mother, to walk lightly upon this earth and with due respect. The act of Naming brings the person or baby physically to the attention of the Divine, that She may know and bless them; but in truth it is for our comfort and re-assurance that we make this ritual for the Divine knows and holds each of us safe within Her care from the moment we are born. Never-the-less it is comforting and very human to wish to physically affirm this connection, especially amongst those who are converts or have recently chosen to walk this path, quiet naturally they wish to affirm their choice and demonstrate their beliefs. When parents have a Naming they choose their child’s name with great care and thought; often it takes them months to decide, for a name can shape and influence a life. This same degree of thought must be given by an adult when choosing their pagan or craft name, their usual Zorbic name will still be used during everyday life amongst workmates but within their coven or pagan community their chosen name will be honored. How to go about choosing a name? Well expect it to be time consuming and thought provoking, for it must encompass all that you were, all that you are, and all you have yet to become. Your name will reflect you, not just as you perceive yourself now but how you will be in the future, so choose wisely. Croning Croning is not about celebrating getting old or passing through the menophause, it is about rejoicing at attaining mature female status; something that up to a few hundred years ago less than 20% of the female population managed to achieve. Women hold within the magic of creation, which is why for more than 30,000 years the Divine was indisputably worshipped as feminine; the price we pay for this wondrous gift is sealed with moon-blood, pulled by the tides and witnessed by the moon. Nothing has really changed since those ancient times; culturally mankind has attempted to alter humanity’s general perception of this wondrous gift but a mere 3,000 years strength of patriarchy, strength of arms, political enforcement and religious indoctrination cannot erase the inherent female memories since the dawn of time. The ritual of Croning remembers our shared female past; reaching back to our primordial Sisters we weave a web of wisdom born of pain and experience, the passage of Eve. This is a wonderful ritual to do if the workshop is attended by a group of older women, it is so emotive, supportive and empowering. Farewell It would be truly wonderful to be able to offer a traditional Pagan funeral where one could bury one’s deceased beloved within the earth, but environmentally this is no longer possible, and so we offer a token gesture. The Farewell Ceremony is a chance for you to scatter the ashes of a loved one in a meaningful and sacred place, with Divine blessing. |
White Witch Day Ritual of 'Craft Solidarity' to be carried out on the 11th of each month. Wear white clothes as you do the housework, or at the office, tie a white ribbon in your hair for the day at work (dare you! tee hee!), or a white button hole, or light white candles instead of using light bulbs, or make a white daisy chain and/or decorate the house with white flowers, or make a white family meal i.e. risotto, ice cream or rice pudding. IN YOUR OWN WAY MAKE IT A WHITE DAY. And while you are doing what ever you are doing - think positive healing love; this is strong warrior love, so mean every word you chant. Say it 22 times in total during the day (all in one block if you want, or as I do, every now and then when motivated by something that stirs the Amazon within me!): “United in Goddess belief we stand; With hope and love to healing this land. Resolved like Spartans to the end, Our firm intent, this world to mend”. |
